I am sure you will have a stimulating, enriching experience living in Vietnam, though it will not change what you face in America when you return. I suggest you look into how you might obtain long-term residency in VN or elsewhere in Asia. That might be a good move. I am a 66 y.o. academic with ancestral roots in E. Europe and am now looking into buying an apartment in Latvia and seeking long-term residency there. I am feeling that America has been damaged so much by Trump and MAGA that it may not recover for many years, if ever. Good luck!
